Create and Manage Campaign Triggers

Last updated on Sep 15, 2026

Using Zapier? Zapier-created or updated contacts can be part of your follow-up workflows. See How to use Brokerkit with Zapier.

Campaign triggers in Brokerkit automatically start or stop campaigns for contacts
based on source or date conditions. For example, you can launch a campaign when a
contact arrives from a your landing page or on their license expiration date.

Note: Campaign triggers do NOT react to reply content or keywords. They only work
with predefined system conditions like contact source and date fields.

How To Create a Campaign Trigger

  1. From Brokerkit, navigate to Campaigns in the top-level menu and click Campaign Triggers.
  2. To add a trigger, click on + New Trigger.
  3. Name your trigger something you and your staff will easily recognize - contacts will never see this.
  4. Next, select the Campaign for which the trigger will start/stop the campaign for the relevant contacts.
  5. Specify whether you want the trigger to work in recruiting or retention (LEAD/TEAM).
  6. Select whether you want the trigger to start or stop the selected campaigns for the relevant contacts.
  7. Select whether you want the campaign to trigger based on ALL/ANY of the selected conditions.
  8. When a recruiting or retention contact is created or updated, the system triggers the selected campaign based on specified conditions.

Source-Based Triggers

Think of source-based triggers as an auto-responder system where you can trigger different campaigns for each source.

Source-based triggers allow you to select various "Sources" for your recruiting or retention contacts and then trigger a campaign whenever a new contact is created or updated to have that source.

You can create custom sources to trigger at User Profile>Account Settings>Sources.

Leads from Landing Pages * When a candidate submits their information in the form on your landing page, a lead is created with the source "Landing Page" in the Brokerkit Recruiter Module * Note that you can create a trigger where  1) Source=Landing Page on  2) Leads and set to  3) Start a campaign This will automatically trigger the campaign whenever someone submits their information on your landing page.
Leads from Agent/Affiliate Referrals * When one of your agent or affiliate users submits a referral, a lead is created with the source "Referral" in the Brokerkit Recruiter Module. * Note that you can create a trigger where 1) Source=Referral on 2) Leads and set it to 3) Start a campaign. This will automatically trigger the campaign whenever you get a new referral.
Contacts created or updated via the Brokerkit Leads API or Zapier. * When creating/updating a contact from an external system via the Brokerkit API or Zapier, you can set the "Source" field when creating or updating the contact in addition to configuring whether it is created/updated in retention. * You can then set a trigger with the selected source and automatically trigger campaigns on that contact. * An example would be where you could generate recruiting leads with Facebook Lead Ads or Wizehire and then push those leads into the Brokerkit API via Zapier. In your Zapier configuration, you can set the parameter to Facebook or Wizehire as the source and then create a trigger that fires a given campaign on your new leads where source = Facebook or Wizehire.

One-time automatic re-enrollment for Source and Contact Created triggers

After the trigger's usual conditions are evaluated, Brokerkit blocks automatic re-enrollment only when every active condition field is Source or Contact Created and that same trigger has previously subscribed the contact. If any other active condition field is present, this special one-time rule does not apply merely because Source or Contact Created is also present.

Agent Alert Campaign Triggers

Agent Alert campaign triggers let Brokerkit automatically start or stop a campaign when a Relitix Agent Alert is created for a recruiting or retention contact. This is useful when you want timely follow-up after real estate activity such as a new listing, pending sale, contract, or closing.

Common examples:

  • Start a recruiting campaign when a target agent has a new listing or closing.
  • Start a retention campaign to congratulate a team member on a new closing.
  • Stop or change follow-up when an alert means a different campaign is now more relevant.

To create an Agent Alert trigger:

  1. Go to Automation > Campaign Triggers.
  2. Click + New Trigger.
  3. Choose the campaign you want Brokerkit to start or stop.
  4. Select whether the trigger is for Leads in Recruiting or Team in Retention.
  5. Select Agent Alert as the trigger type.
  6. Choose the Agent Alert event, such as New Listing, New Pending, New Contract, or New Closing.
  7. Optional: add an Agent Alert Role condition when you only want the trigger to apply to listing agents, buyer agents, or co-broke/cooperating agents.
  8. Optional: set a cooldown period so the same contact is not added to the campaign too frequently when they have several alerts close together.
  9. Save the trigger.

An Agent Alert trigger starts or stops a campaign for the existing Brokerkit contact linked to that alert. A co-broke agent name is alert metadata, not a contact audience. To invite a group of co-brokers, first make sure the intended people exist as Brokerkit contacts and select that contact audience with a supported search before bulk outreach; the co-broke role condition alone only filters alert events for their linked contacts.

Important: Agent Alert campaign triggers require Agent Alerts to be enabled for the relevant Relitix import query. If the Agent Alert options are unavailable, confirm that your Relitix API key supports Agent Alerts and that Agent Alerts are turned on for the import query. See Agent Alerts for setup details.

Personalizing Agent Alert campaigns: When writing campaign emails, texts, or tasks for an Agent Alert trigger, use Agent Alert variables to reference the property or alert that caused the campaign to start. Available groups include Last Closing, Last Listing, Last Pending, and Last Contract. Examples include {{closing.fullAddress}}, {{listing.city}}, and {{pending.price}}. Matching Agent Alert campaign templates are available in the Relitix category of the Campaign Library.

Do birthday campaign triggers repeat every year?

Yes. A campaign trigger that uses Date: Birthday checks the month and day of the contact's birthday. When the trigger is running and the contact matches the trigger conditions, Brokerkit can start the selected campaign automatically on the birthday date each year.

For a birthday campaign, do not manually subscribe each contact to the campaign unless you intentionally want the campaign to start immediately. Instead, make sure the contact has a birthday saved on the profile and that the birthday campaign trigger is running for the correct audience, such as Recruiting or Retention.

How do I stop a recurring birthday campaign?

To stop a recurring birthday trigger for everyone, pause or delete that trigger. Removing a contact from the campaign ends the current subscription only; it does not disable the birthday trigger, which can evaluate again in a later year.

To end current subscriptions for selected contacts, use the bulk Remove from Campaign action.

Can I set up a campaign that repeats on a custom schedule, like every 6 months?

Not as a single automatic setting. Campaign triggers can only start or stop a campaign based on the source and date conditions listed above — Anniversary, Appointment, Birthday, Contact Created, Joined On, Last Activity, Last Team Member Sign In, License Expiration, and Task Due Date. There is no "repeat every X months" or custom recurring-interval trigger.

Birthday and Anniversary triggers do repeat automatically every year because they check the month and day saved on each contact's profile, but you cannot set an arbitrary interval such as every 6 months or every quarter.

If you want to reach the same contacts on a recurring schedule — for example, every June and every December — you have two good options:

  • Run the campaign manually each cycle (recommended). Build the campaign once, then manually subscribe the right contacts in June, and subscribe them again in December or January. This gives you full control over exactly who is added each time.
  • Use one campaign with a long wait step. Build a single campaign where the first message goes out in June, then add a step set to "after waiting" enough days to land in December before the next message sends. Subscribe your contacts once and the campaign walks them through both touch points. See Can I use specific dates to send Smart Campaigns? for how the step-to-step wait timing works.

If a built-in recurring schedule would be valuable for your workflow, please submit it as a product idea at ideas.brokerkit.app so our team can track interest.
