A bell icon will indicate when there is a new activity to review. The number next to the bell icon indicates how many unread notifications there are.
Notification Center is visible for both screens, Recruiting and Retention.

Below is the view of the Notification Center modal:
Notification Center groups notifications by day, putting the most recent at the top.

Which email events appear in the Notification Center?
When the related bell preference is enabled under User Settings → Notifications, the Email view can include alerts when a contact:
- Opens an email
- Clicks a link in an email
- Unsubscribes from email
- Sends an inbound email or reply
- Opens a video email or clicks its video link
Open and click tracking applies to bulk, blast, and campaign emails sent through BrokerKit. It is not available for individual messages sent through connected Google or Microsoft accounts.
The Notification Center does not create alerts when an email is accepted, delivered, rejected, failed, bounced or undeliverable, unsent, or reported as spam.
To maintain a reusable list of contacts whose emails bounced:
- Open Recruiting or Retention.
- Click Advanced Filters under the search bar.
- Add Activity & Engagement → Engagement → Email Bounces.
- Add Activity & Engagement → Time Period and choose a period such as Unlimited.
- Click Apply Filters, then Save Search.
- Name the search, such as “Contacts with Email Bounces,” and save it.
See Quick Filters, Advanced Filters, and Saved Searches.
Can I recover a "deleted" notification?
Short answer: Notifications are never actually deleted. When you click on a notification, BrokerKit marks it as read. By default, the Only Show Unread toggle in the top right corner of the Notification Center is ON (blue), so read notifications disappear from your view—but they are still stored and can be shown again.
To see notifications that have "disappeared":
- Open the Notification Center (click the bell icon in the top right).
- Click the Only Show Unread toggle in the top right corner so it turns gray.
- Your read notifications will reappear in chronological order alongside any unread ones.
There is no permanent delete option in the Notification Center. Notifications can only be:
- Marked as read (automatically when you click them)
- Marked as unread (manually — keeps them visible in your queue)
- Mark all as read (clears all unread notifications at once)
If you want notifications to stay visible after you open them, keep the Only Show Unread toggle set to gray (off).
Unread/ Read
Notifications with a green circle to the right indicate they haven't been opened yet. Once you open a notification, it will display a light gray outer circle to show it has been read.
Viewing Read Notifications
By default, the toggle in the top right corner filters your view:
- Blue toggle: Shows only unread notifications
- Gray toggle: Shows both unread and read notifications in chronological order
To keep notifications in your queue after viewing them, make sure the toggle is set to gray. This will prevent them from disappearing when you open them.
Managing Notification Status
- Mark as unread: If you've opened a notification but want to review it later, you can mark it as unread to keep it visible in your queue
- Mark all as read: Click "Mark all as read" to clear all unread notifications at once

Clickable link
When you click on the notification, you will be guided to the contact profile to see recent activity and the notification will be marked as read.

Filters
Filter notifications by:
- Source: Email, Text, or All. This narrows the alerts that already exist; choosing Email does not create delivery-status alerts for bounced or undeliverable messages.

Notifications Settings
Open Notifications Settings in two ways:
- By clicking on your name > User Settings > Notifications
- Directly from Notification Center by clicking on “gear” icon

Customize notifications:
- Bell: In app alert with new activity in Notification Center modal
- Email: receive an email with notification

Please Note:
- Email engagement tracking
- Email engagement tracking is only available for bulk, blast, or campaign emails.
- When you send an email directly from the contact profile in recruiting or retention, it is sent directly from your Google or Microsoft account, where engagement tracking is unavailable.
- Text engagement tracking
- Receive notifications on text engagements: link clicks, replies, and unsubscribe attempts.
- Important: The Notification Center does not send notifications when campaign emails or texts are sent out. It only tracks engagement after delivery. For tracking when campaign communications are sent, consider adding task steps to your campaigns that can provide alternative notification methods.
Are notification settings per-user or team-wide?
Notification settings are per-user. Each team member opens User Settings > Notifications (or the gear icon inside the Notification Center) and changes their own bell and email preferences. There is no team-wide notification toggle that updates the bell or email settings for everyone, so each user needs to update their own preferences individually.
Managing New Lead and New Candidate Notifications
To manage alerts for new activity:
- Open User Settings → Notifications.
- In the General section, find New Lead.
- Enable Bell to show new-lead alerts in the Notification Center.
- Enable Text if you also want SMS alerts. A forwarding number is required.
- In the Jobs section, find New Candidate and enable Text if you want SMS alerts when candidates apply.
- Click Update Notifications to save your preferences.
