How to Customize Columns in Recruiting Contacts and Retention Contacts

Customize columns in Recruiting Contacts and Retention Contacts

If you spend time exporting contact lists or opening individual profiles just to find one more detail, use Edit Columns to put the information you need directly in the table.

Your column layout is personal to you. Saving columns changes only your own view. It does not change the layout other users see, even when you work in the same account or team.

Where to find Edit Columns

You can customize the table in these views:

  • Recruiting Contacts
  • Retention Contacts

Open the view you want to customize and select the Edit Columns icon above the table.

Your Recruiting Contacts and Retention Contacts layouts are separate. The saved configuration follows the corresponding contact-table context, including its search and Advanced Filter results when available.

How to customize your columns

  1. Open Recruiting Contacts or Retention Contacts.
  2. Select Edit Columns.
  3. Search for a field, or browse the available fields by category.
  4. Select a field to show it in the table. Deselect a selected field to hide it.
  5. Use the reorder controls to move selected fields into the order you want them displayed.
  6. Select Save.

The table updates with your selected layout. BrokerKit remembers the saved layout for your next visit to that contact-table context.

What the editor controls

  • Selected: Fields currently shown in the table.
  • Available: Fields you can add, grouped by category.
  • Search: Finds matching field names across the available catalog.
  • Reorder controls: Move selected fields up or down.
  • Locked fields: Some required fields cannot be removed.
  • Save: Applies the draft layout.
  • Cancel: Closes the editor without saving the draft.
  • Reset to Default: Restores the standard layout for the current contact-table context.

What fields can I add?

The available fields depend on the contact view, your permissions, and the integrations enabled for your account. Categories may include contact information, location, ownership and assignment, production and performance, status and pipeline, activity and engagement, calls, appointments, campaigns, labels, tasks, and integration data.

Common examples include:

  • Last Contacted
  • Last Call and other call details
  • Referred By
  • Office and City
  • ZIP/postal code
  • Production totals and listings
  • Engagement fields such as email opens, email clicks, replies, and counts

Some fields may be unavailable, disabled, or omitted when the current view or account does not have a supported data source. Engagement and count fields are shown only when BrokerKit can load them safely.

What does the Last Engagement contact-table column show?

Last Engagement shows the latest timestamp among opened email, video, or document events; clicked email, SMS, video, or document events; replied email or SMS events; inbound email replies with an in-reply-to reference; and inbound calls. The table displays that timestamp as a relative date. Outbound sends, manually logged activities, and inbound emails that are not replies are not included by this definition.

Can I filter and sort with custom columns?

Yes. Edit Columns changes which fields the table displays; it does not replace your filters or saved searches.

Do custom columns change my CSV export?

No. Custom columns are designed to help you work in the table without exporting. The existing Exporting Your Contact List workflow and CSV behavior remain unchanged.

Quick answers

I do not see Edit Columns. What should I do?
Make sure you are in Recruiting Contacts or Retention Contacts and that you have access to the view. If the option still does not appear, your role or the current view may not support column customization. Contact BrokerKit support if needed.

Will changing columns change the contacts in my list?
No. It changes the table layout only. Use Search, Quick Filters, Advanced Filters, or Saved Searches to change which contacts are included.

Will changing columns change what other users see?
No. Your saved column configuration is personal to your user and contact-table context. Other users keep their own saved layout or the default layout.

Will my columns stay the way I set them?
Yes. Select Save after making changes, and BrokerKit remembers the layout for that context on your next visit.

What happens if I select Cancel?
Your draft changes are discarded and the previously saved layout remains unchanged.

What happens if I select Reset to Default?
The current contact-table context returns to its standard columns. You can customize it again and select Save.

Can I make every field sortable?
No. Only supported fields have sorting controls. A field may be available to display without being available for sorting.

Can I resize columns, edit contact data inline, or create named column views?
Those are not part of the current Edit Columns workflow. Edit Columns controls which supported fields are visible and their order.
