Adding Videos to your Emails or Texts

NOTE: Bulk texting is now available in both Recruiting and Retention. Videos can also be added to individual texts in both modules and to text steps in Recruiting campaigns. For the Recruiting bulk text workflow, see Can I mass text in recruiting?.

You can add videos to your emails or texts—it's a simple way to make your messages more dynamic and engaging.

Videos can be added in both Recruiting and Retention. Here's where video insertion is supported in each module:

Recruiting:

  • Individual texts and emails from any contact profile
  • Bulk emails from the contact list
  • Campaign email and text steps

Retention:

  • Individual texts and emails from any contact profile
  • Bulk emails from the contact list
  • Bulk texts (text blast) from the contact list
  • Blast Team emails and texts

How to add a video

  1. Click the email or text button when composing a message — the video icon appears in the toolbar.
  2. Click the video icon to see the 3 different ways you can insert a video:
  • + Record a video
    • Upload new video
    • Choose a video

📝Note: If this is your first time, you will be prompted to allow access to your camera and mic.

a) Record a Video

  1. From the Insert a Video window, click the Record a Video button near the top.
  2. Click the Red Circle 🔴 on the screen to begin recording.
    1. There is a 10-minute recording limit.
    2. Click the Red Circle 🔴 on the screen again to end the recording or press pause as needed.
  3. Once complete, you can preview the recording and re-record it if needed.
    1. Below the preview, you can name the video and add any additional text to display.
    2. Check the box ✅ on the right to create an animated thumbnail (GIF).
  4. Click the green Save button to store the video in your library. This lets you insert it into your emails now and easily access it later for future emails or texts.
  5. Once the upload is complete, click the green Insert Video button.
  6. Your video thumbnail should display and is ready to be sent.

📝 Note: The number of recordings you can create, save, and send is based on your account subscription.

b) Upload New Video

  1. From the Insert a Video window, click the Upload New Video button near the top.
  2. Click the large upload data section to add data, or drag a file into this area to add data.
    1. Be sure that your files are in the proper format: mp4, mpg, mov, avi, flv, mpeg, wmv, m4v.
    2. You can upload up to a 100 MB video file.
  3. Once the upload is complete, you can preview the recording and re-upload it if needed.
    1. Below the preview, you can name the video and add any additional text to display.
    2. Check the box ✅ on the right to create an animated thumbnail (GIF).
  4. Click the green Save button to store the video in your library. This lets you insert it into your emails now and easily access it later for future emails or texts.
  5. Click the green Insert Video button.
  6. Your video thumbnail should display and is ready to be sent.

c) Choose a Video

  1. From the Insert a Video window, click the Choose a Video button near the top.
  2. Here you can select a video that you have saved to your video library.
    1. Use the search bar to find a video or the dropdown to find videos by owner.
  3. Select the video you wish to add, then click the green Insert Video button.
  4. Your video thumbnail should display and is ready to be sent.

How videos appear in emails vs. texts

  • Emails: The video is inserted as a clickable thumbnail image. When the recipient clicks the image, it opens a landing page where they can watch the video. Be sure to add a call to action so the recipient knows to click the image to watch the video.
  • Texts: The video is sent as a link to the video viewing page. When the text is delivered, the link is automatically shortened (using the bk.onl domain via Twilio Link Shortener) for a cleaner look. Be sure to add a call to action so the recipient knows to click the link to watch the video.

FAQ

1) Where can I see my saved videos?

  • You can review, organize, and edit all your videos right from the Video Library. To know more, please check this guide ➡️ Video Library & Video Recorder.

2) What if my video got stuck in converting?

  • If your video got stuck in converting or it cannot be inserted in your email or text, please follow these instructions:
    1. Ensure the file size is under 100MB.
    2. Wait a few minutes—it may still be processing.
    3. Try re-uploading the video.

3) Can I record or upload videos with my phone or tablet?

  • Yes, the video recording features also work when you log in from your phone or tablet.

4) How to Update Browser Permissions To Allow Video & Microphone Recording?

  • In most cases, we will ask you to allow the use of your camera and microphone when you first open the video recorder window. If you want to block a website from accessing your mic or camera or allow a website to access either of them, you can do so under browser settings:

    • Safari: If you are using safari, follow these steps to access your browser settings:

      1. In the menu bar, select Safari -> Preferences.
      2. Click the Websites tab.
      3. In the list on the left, select Camera.
      4. Find getbrokerkit.com, and be sure the camera permissions are set to either Allow or Ask.
      5. Next, go to the Microphone section and do the same thing.
      6. Now, refresh the page, and when you click to open the video recorder, if you see this popup, select Allow -- we will only access your camera and microphone while you are on the getbrokerkit.com site and recording.
    • Chrome: If you are using chrome, follow these steps to access your browser settings:

      1. Open Chrome and select the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner.
      2. Select Settings. Choose the Privacy and security section.
        • Tip: You can use a keyboard shortcut to access the Settings menu. On Windows, press Alt+F or Alt+E, or F10, followed by the Spacebar. On a Mac, press Command+, (comma).*
      3. Choose the Privacy and Security section.
      4. Scroll down and select Site Settings.
      5. In the Permissions section, select Camera, which contains the Camera and Microphone options.
      6. Activate the Sites can ask to use your camera option. Repeat the process for the microphone and activate the Sites can ask to use your microphone option.
    • Firefox:

      • If you are using firefox, follow these steps to change your camera settings:
      1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Preferences.
      2. Click Privacy & Security from the left menu.
      3. Scroll down to the Permissions section.
      4. Click the Settings button for the Camera option.
        • Firefox displays the websites with saved Allow or Block permission.
      5. Use the Allow/Block selector to change permission for the website. You can remove the site by selecting it from the list and clicking Remove Website.
      6. Select the Block new requests asking to access your camera checkbox if you do not want to give any other sites access to your camera.
      7. Click the Save Changes button.
      • If you are using firefox, follow these steps to change your microphone settings:
      1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Preferences.
      2. Click Privacy & Security from the left menu.
      3. Scroll down to the Permissions section.
      4. Click the Settings button for the Microphone option.
        • Firefox displays the websites with saved Allow or Block permission.
      5. Use the Allow/Block selector to change permission for the website. You can remove the site by selecting it from the list and clicking Remove Website.

5) Can I include a video in a text blast?

  • Bulk text blasts are only available from the Retention module. Select your contacts, click Send text, and use the video icon in the toolbar. Videos in texts are sent as shortened links (bk.onl domain). Videos can also be added to individual texts in both Recruiting and Retention from any contact profile, and to text steps in Recruiting campaigns.
